Checklist

As an overseas trained doctor you should consider the following points. You can complete some of these items before your move to Australia.

  • Meet English language proficiency.
  • Check that you meet the immigration requirements to enter Australia.
  • Search for and find an appropriate medical job in Australia.
  • Applied for a working visa for your medical job will stop
  • If a GP or nonspecialist Dr complete the online AMC practice exam
  • If you are a specialist applied to the AMC to have your specialist qualifications recognised.
  • To obtain full medical Australian registration applied to the AMC to complete the exams.
  • To meet immigration purposes, have an approved doctor completes your health check.
  • Contact the medical board in the State or Territory you intend to move to too obtain medical registration.
  • In some cases immigration may require you to obtain a police clearance.
